How to Start a Remote Session
Please follow these steps only when instructed by a technician on the phone.
⚠️ Is this a scam? Read before downloading.
When you install RustDesk, the app itself displays this warning:
"WARNING: YOU MAY BE BEING SCAMMED! If you are on the phone with someone you DON'T know AND TRUST who has asked you to install RustDesk, do not install and hang up immediately. They are likely a scammer trying to steal your money or other private information."
This warning protects you — please take it seriously. You are safe to proceed only if all three of these are true:
- YOU called US at 724-863-1989 — not the other way around.
- You scheduled this session with a Computer Medix technician in North Huntingdon, PA.
- You recognize our shop from prior visits, word-of-mouth, or this website (computermedixinc.com).
If someone called YOU unexpectedly — claiming to be from Microsoft, Apple, your bank, the IRS, or any "tech support" — hang up immediately. No legitimate company will ever call you out of the blue and ask you to install remote software. If you are unsure, hang up and call us directly at 724-863-1989 to verify.
2. Download RustDesk (Primary)
Choose the version for your device and download RustDesk, our primary remote support tool.
(Run the file after downloading and provide your ID/Password to the tech.)
iPhone can share screen only. Most Android phones are view-only (Samsung supports full control).
3. Download TeamViewer (Alternate)
If instructed, use our alternate tool, TeamViewer QuickSupport. Only use this if RustDesk is not working.
(Click "Run" or "Open" and give the ID to the tech.)

4. Payment & Pricing
Remote support starts at $50.00. We accept credit cards over the phone before beginning work. Complex issues may incur additional time charges.
5. Security
You can watch the entire process on your screen. Once we disconnect, we cannot access your computer again without your permission. It is completely secure.
6. Limitations & Virus Removal
Important: We cannot effectively remove heavy virus infections, rootkits, or ransomware remotely. There is no guarantee of complete removal without an in-shop visit.
Can't Connect to the Internet?
If you can't get online, remote support won't work.
